The MSc in Management Science program is an extremely flexible academic program that allowed me to pursue my unique combination of interests, which I determined to be most appropriate for the career I wanted to pursue.

Finding My Calling: International Business

After high school, I had little motivation and no knowledge of what I wanted to do with my life. So, I joined the financial sector and worked in customer service in a renowned private bank in Sri Lanka. There, I helped many customers languishing in debt. It was then that I realized what I really wanted to do. I wanted to empower every man, woman, and child in my nation to live a happy life and a prosperous one. Thus, I realized my goal: to make my country, Sri Lanka, one of the world’s most powerful.

My research led me to look into the success of nations like South Korea, Israel, and Germany and the role played by International Businesses in their prosperity. Highly motivated and knowing what I wanted in life, I pursued my Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business at a university in Michigan and completed it in just two years and two semesters (taking multiple summer classes to speed up my graduation).

Invaluable Experiences in the MS Management Program

After graduating, I knew I had to learn a great deal about the industry. I focused on finding a school that valued academic knowledge. The University of Texas at Dallas offered what I wanted. I immediately applied and joined The Jindal School’s Master of Science in Management Sciences program.

My focus during my time in MS Management Science was Sales, Marketing, Advertising, and Branding. Still, I made sure to round it off with some solid foundation in supply chains, organizational behavior, and negotiations. I was given the opportunity to work for multi-million-dollar corporations, debate industry veterans, and form networks with multiple working professionals both in and out of class. These experiences will bring value in the years to come.

Flexibility Made it Possible

The MSc in Management Science program is an extremely flexible academic program that allowed me to pursue my unique combination of interests, which I determined to be most appropriate for the career I wanted to pursue. I want to be a part of a nation that not just survives but thrives and dominates for decades to come.
