Frequently Asked Questions

UTD students will register by logging on to Marketplace, selecting ASCM Prep Course tab and selecting then appropriate prep course.

Community college and university students (i.e., UT Dallas’s students) do not receive books and related materials since the registration fee is nominal. If you would like to purchase books/materials, you should consult with the instructor during the first class session and then purchase directly from the ASCM or from the ASCM North Texas website.

NOTE: Individuals and working professionals who do not hold student status and interested in APCICS prep courses should contact ASCM North Texas for registration and books.

Typically, students can finish the prep courses within six months (see course schedule).

Students must register through ASCM’s website and take the exams accordingly. Upon passing the exams, which will be administered by an external organization such as Pearson, the ASCM will award the certificate to students directly.

Yes, it is strongly recommended that you attend and participate in all sessions in order to gain the knowledge required to pass the exams.

The prep courses provide you with the knowledge to prepare for the ASCM exams. However, participating in class and not studying after class would not help you pass the exams. This means that students must spend time and study outside of class time to pass the exams successfully.

No, the registration fee covers the instructional hours only and not the exams. Students are responsible for the cost of ASCM exams. We strongly recommend students to become a member of ASCM to get discounts for exams as well as other valuable information and services. College and university students can become members of ASCM for free (visit ASCM North Texas for more up-to-date information about membership).

No, the fee for the CPIM prep course is non-refundable.
